Laser engraving, technological marking

Laser engraving on any surfaces: metal (hardened, alloyed, structural, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, chrome), plastic, wood. Industrial and souvenir laser marking.

Product examples

Laser engraving and marking is a very accurate and durable technology for engraving images on surfaces using a laser. The object for engraving is fixed in the laser installation, and the application parameters are set in the computer program. In the process of operation, the laser beam evaporates a layer of material, burns it to a specified depth and width, and changes the color of the material. Engraving is widely used for industrial marking of parts, creation of technological markings and personalization of souvenir products.

Our company uses two types of laser systems: gas CO2 lasers and fiber-optic (ytterbium) lasers. On such
equipment, deep marking of products is possible. And also the production of tags, numbers, plates, prints, key rings made of polyurethane, plastic, metal, wood, plywood with a three-dimensional image or engraving.

Laser engraving on metal products

We carry out metal engraving using fiber-optic lasers. The color of the engraving (marking) depends on the color of the metal itself. For example, if the body of the product is made of polished steel, without any coating, the engraving color will turn out to be brown, almost black.

Laser engraving on metal is clear, legible. For stainless steel products, it is possible to make colored corrosion-resistant markings without damaging the surface structure by using anniling. This is used, for example, for a company logo or functional markings (hot and cold on stainless steel products).

Metals suitable for laser marking and engraving:

  • stainless steel
  • aluminum, anodized aluminum
  • hard metals
  • alloyed, high-speed, structural steel
  • titanium, titanium alloys
  • cast iron
  • carbides
  • brass
  • copper
  • chromium
  • coated metals

Laser engraving on wood, plywood, mdf, plastic

We carry out laser engraving on wood, plywood, plastic using a CO2 gas laser. The color of the engraving is usually darker than the color of the outer layer, except for the engraving of two-layer plastic – the top layer is removed, revealing a contrasting base.

Industrial laser marking / engraving

The laser for engraving in the industrial sector is used for the marking of serial products for tracking or coding purposes – in electronics, mechanical engineering, tool making, sheet metal processing, medicine, the automotive industry, etc.

  • Information about the parameters of the product – article, size, date, batch number, serial number, etc.
  • Operating Conditions Information
  • Product counterfeit protection – manufacturer logos, barcodes, QR codes for traceability
  • Technological plates and tags for workshops and production equipment, etc.

Laser engraving in the promotional industry

Engraving is used to apply a persistent and durable image – texts, logos, drawings, photos – on business gifts, promotional products, and interior design elements.

Using a laser, you can make signs, plaques, award diplomas, apply a logo on pens, mugs, key chains, flash drives, thermoses, thermo glasses, knives, spoons, photo frames, office accessories. Sometimes, in order not to make laser engraving directly on the product, nameplates of various shapes are made of metal or double-layer plastic.

The advantages of laser engraving, marking. Features:

  • very durable application – the engraving is not affected by external factors, it will not be erased or washed off.
  • the ability to apply to single products and small batches;
  • relatively low cost of one product with small runs.
  • does not require a preparation stage, which makes this technology very efficient in terms of time

However, when working with a laser, you need to take into account some features.

  • engraving time depends on the surface area and the shape of the product. Engraving on complex shapes will take longer than on flat surfaces. The maximum image size is determined by the hardware parameters.
  • the color of the engraving depends on the qualitative and quantitative content of certain substances in the material from which the product is made and may differ within the same print run. It is impossible to choose the color of the engraving or to predict in advance.
